Four new fine art landscape photography and paintography images have been published in the gallery.
The images span the breadth of North Carolina’s most beautiful areas and include the Craggy Gardens area of the Blue Ridge Parkway in the North Carolina mountains and the Outer Banks on coastal North Carolina.
The images consist of traditional fine art photography and fine art paintography (hand-created digitally-painted photographs), in color and black and white renditions. The color rendition is available as a limited edition print.
The first image is my personal favorite:

Four new fine art landscape photographs have been published in the gallery. The four fine art images include both abstract and paintography styles. Paintography is a photograph that is digitally hand-painted to give it a unique, painterly style. The two paintography images are offered as limited edition prints with a limit of 25 prints per print size.
My favorite is Deadwood Dunes:

Deadwood Dunes
I have taken many pictures of this driftwood bush and the sand dune over a two year period (here’s one). Night shots, day shots, sunrise and sunset. It has been interesting to watch this scene change. This image was captured Read the rest of this entry »

Pathway into Oblivion

A dirt road lined with surrealistic trees winds around a bend and disappears into the foggy nothingness.
This is my favorite. The image was captured in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina near the area of the Read the rest of this entry »

What is Fine art paintography?
Because paintography is so new, and so few people are creating it, it’s not a word in the dictionary yet. Paintography is a very unique style of art that combines digital painting and photography. A photograph (digital image) is opened in a computer graphic editing program such as Photoshop, and various plugins or filters are used to modify the image with special effects. A plugin or filter is a small computer application that can be added to Photoshop to perform special functions.

Why do I create paintography with my fine art photographs?
First and foremost, because it allows me to create exceptionally beautiful artwork in a unique and special style. Among the vast numbers of fine art photographers out there, very few do paintography. Then, among the few who do it, a large percentage of those use automatic filters and plugins to accomplish the task. I do not. More about that later. The important point is that fine art paintography allows me to set my art apart from Read the rest of this entry »

I’m pleased to announce the addition of matted and framed fine art photography prints to the gallery. In addition to purchasing prints (only) you can now get the prints professionally matted and framed.
The prints can be single- or double-matted with white matte. The black wood frame is decorative and compliments the print, yet is neutral enough to fit any environment.
Only the highest quality materials are utilized. The matte is acid-free rag. The glass used in the frame is premium photo glass. The process utilized is museum quality archival mounting utilizing things such as acid-free tapes, glues, etc. This ensures the longevity of the high quality archival fine art papers that are used for every print.
